What Should I pack for a Highland Black Tie event?
This is the Ballavimus men's checklist for what to pack for a reeling ball or other Scottish Black Tie event when you're wearing a kilt. This is known as Highland Black Tie.

Clothes
☐ Black (Ghillie) Brogues (highly polished)
☐ Kilt Socks (or tartan hose if you’re feeling fancy. Shooting socks do well here too, any colour but white, cream or black)
☐ Socks Ties or Tartan flashes (matching tartan or complementary colours)
☐ Kilt
☐ Dress Shirt
☐ Prince Charlie Jacket and Waistcoat or Doublet
☐ Black Bow Tie
☐ Jabot (an alternative to a bow tie, you’ll know if you want one)
Accessories
☐ Dress Sporran
☐ Sporran Chain
☐ Sgian Dubh
☐ Kilt Belt (not worn if you are wearing a waistcoat)
☐ Shirt Studs
☐ Cufflinks
☐ Thin Wallet (with credit card, ID and cash)
☐ Handkerchief
☐ Detachable Collar (if your shirt doesn't have a collar, half size up from your shirt)
☐ Collar Studs (if you’re wearing a detachable collar)
