What should I pack for a White Tie event? 

This is the Ballavimus men’s packing list for your White Tie outfit, also known as full evening dress, or simply ‘tails’.

Use it when packing for the event and the morning afterwards, so you never forget or leave anything behind. Perfect for that ballroom trip to Vienna.

Clothes

☐ Dress Shoes (patent leather or highly polished)

☐ Silk socks (black)

☐ Trousers with double braid

☐ Tailcoat

☐ Waistcoat (Marcella, with backstrap if separate, starched)

☐ Dress shirt (wing collar or collarless, starched)

☐ White bow tie

 

Accessories

☐ Shirt Studs (white, cream or Mother of Pearl)

☐ Collar studs (if wearing a detachable collar, front stud is longer than the back stud)

☐ Waistcoat buttons and clips (if your waistcoat has removable buttons, Mother of Pearl)

☐ Detachable Wingtip Collar (half size up from your shirt size, only needed if your shirt does not have a collar)

☐ Cufflinks

☐ Thin wallet (with credit card, ID and cash)

☐ White braces

☐ Handkerchief

 

Optional Clothes

☐ Silk scarf

☐ Overcoat

☐ Pocket square (white, silk or linen)

☐ Medals or Decorations

☐ White gloves (rarely worn, check beforehand)

☐ Top hat (even less common, check beforehand)
